Rugged Meets Secure: OptioCore Powers Sonim XP7

BALTIMORE – October 14, 2015 – OptioLabs, a developer of mobile data security compliance technology for the enterprise and embedded systems, today announced that their flagship product, OptioCore, will be available as part of the Sonim XP7 handset. OptioCore’s security platform reinforces the industry’s most rugged phone, specifically designed for workers in demanding and hazardous environments, enabling users to conduct their mission critical duties regardless of the physical or cyber threats they may face. OptioCore’s advanced mobile security complements Sonim’s extreme endurance, providing the perfect marriage of security and ruggedness for the most demanding of customers and use cases.

OptioCore is a secure mobile management platform that offers highly tuned control over the flow of data and execution of actions on a mobile device, also known as ‘data-in-use’ security. It is built into the mobile operating system and provides secure authentication and data management based on proximity and time.

“We are excited to partner with Sonim Technologies on the XP7,” said CEO of OptioLabs, Gregg Smith. “I am confident that the addition of OptioCore will enhance this outstanding device for enterprise and government customers. We look forward to continuing our partnership with Sonim to provide secure, reliable communications solutions to the global market.”

Sonim Technologies, the maker of the world’s most rugged mobile phones, specializes in workforce-critical communication tools that enable companies and governments to make their field workforces safe and productive in today’s ever more connected world. Sonim’s devices meet the most Rugged Standards, which go far beyond basic MIL-Spec and IP certifications, including an IP69 Rating and all 3 ISO Standards for Medical Cleaning. Additionally, Sonim offers the only Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) mobile product available with Band Class 14, along with all standard major commercial frequencies.

“Providing rugged, durable, and reliable communication solutions is top priority for us,” said Carl L. Nerup, General Manager, Global Regulated Markets at Sonim. “Sonim’s partnership with OptioLabs will provide the market with not only the toughest, but now with a more secure solution for Android mobile devices.”

As a practical use case, doctors who carry the Sonim XP7, which is medical-grade certified, will now have the ability to walk into a patient’s room and automatically receive access to their medical records via proximity authentication. Based on predetermined OptioCore policies, the medical records are secured for viewing and automatically wiped from the device when the doctor leaves the vicinity of the room. The utilization of proximity authentication assures that employees are able to access sensitive data while in cleared locations, however when employees depart the cleared location, sensitive data is no longer accessible based on pre-determined policies. This process ensures both medical data security and HIPAA compliance.
